Where Adventure Builds Character: The Thar Bengaluru Way

Adventure sports give us a perspective on life that very few others can. They also build character, develop love and respect for nature, and instill leadership qualities.

In mountaineering, sea kayaking and sailing, etc. we learn to listen to the Nature, as well as to our bodies. In off-roading we have to listen to our 4X4s too, and most importantly - to the leaders & spotters.

Thar Bengaluru is fortunate to have a very talented and dedicated leadership team that performs fantastic yeoman’s service for its off-roading community. A lot of effort, pain and expense go into the recce – to ensure that everyone can participate, be challenged, and come back safely despite the various obstacles and surprises on the trails. This optimum mix of thrill, enjoyment and safety is not easy to achieve, but Thar Bengaluru manages it so effectively and consistently.

I have been to several weekend events with this group and also three successful expeditions to the remote borders with Myanmar, Pakistan and Tibet. These are testaments to the efficient management of logistics, people, technical challenges, vehicle breakdowns & recoveries, etc.

It is very gratifying to see that the next generation of leaders is emerging, inspired by the founders. This will ensure that the Club will continue to play a dominant role in the field of 4X4 adventures for the years to come.
